Last week, something truly special happened at our community centre—a day filled with teamwork, generosity, and a whole lot of digging! Together with staff from our local B&Q stores (Welwyn Garden City and Stevenage), we rolled up our sleeves to transform an old, unused allotment into a vibrant growing space for the children and families we support.

This project has been a dream for a while, and thanks to the incredible support from B&Q, it’s now a reality! Not only did their team volunteer their time and energy to help with the hard work, but they also donated £1,000 worth of tools and supplies, giving us everything we need to get started. From spades and trowels to compost and seeds, their contribution has been a game-changer.

A huge thank you also goes to the amazing team at Hatfield Men’s Shed for building our beautiful raised beds. Their craftsmanship and kindness have provided us with the perfect foundation to grow fruit, vegetables, and herbs that will feed into our holiday camp cooking sessions. These raised beds are not only practical but also a wonderful example of what can be achieved when the community comes together.
