Over the past year, our Wednesday crochet group at The Howard Centre has grown into something really special. What started with the simple idea of teaching people a new craft has brought together hundreds of people to learn, create, chat and enjoy some time for themselves. Across more than 35 sessions, we welcomed over 350 attendees, with many people returning week after week and discovering that crochet really is a skill anyone can learn with a little patience and encouragem

What started as a simple idea has quickly grown into a lovely little community hub within The Howard Centre. Our Book & Puzzle Swap has become a wonderful success, with local people regularly stopping by to browse, donate, swap, and chat about their latest reads. During the Easter holidays, The Craft Room was delighted to host a free children’s creative event in the main atrium of the Howard Centre, welcoming children aged 8–11 for an afternoon of painting, creativity, and community spirit. The session gave children the opportunity to transform plain plant pots into colourful, unique creations using paints, patterns, and plenty of imagination.
