Easter Creativity Blooms at The Howard Centre

During the Easter holidays, The Craft Room was delighted to host a free children’s creative event in the main atrium of the Howard Centre, welcoming children aged 8–11 for an afternoon of painting, creativity, and community spirit.

The session gave children the opportunity to transform plain plant pots into colourful, unique creations using paints, patterns, and plenty of imagination. The pots were kindly donated by B&Q, helping make the event accessible and completely free for local families.

The event was fully booked, with more than 24 children taking part throughout the day. Parents stayed alongside their children during the session, creating a relaxed and family-friendly atmosphere in the heart of the shopping centre.

The activity was led by two dedicated volunteers, Carla and Avice, who regularly volunteer with The Craft Room and played a huge role in making the event such a welcoming and enjoyable experience for everyone involved. Their patience, creativity, and encouragement helped children feel confident to express themselves and have fun with the activity.

From bright floral designs to bold colourful patterns, every pot was completely different, and it was lovely to see the children so proud of what they had created. Events like these are not only a chance for children to get creative, but also an opportunity for families to spend quality time together, meet others in the community, and access free activities during the school holidays.

The Craft Room would like to thank everyone who attended, volunteered, and supported the event. We look forward to bringing even more free community activities to The Howard Centre in the future.

Hello, Carla here I just wanted to say it’s an absolute pleasure to be given the opportunity to help out at the craft room, the pot painting workshop was a brilliant event and it was a joy to see all the children enjoying and immersing themselves in making such wonderful and colourful pots. I look forward to helping out in future events and I hope that these opportunities will always be enjoyed in the future by the community. Thank you.
